Why does entourage keep downloading old messages

I am using Entourage on a iMac with Periodically I get a problem with already read emails loading. Yahoo handles their email. These are emails that I have read and in most cases deleted locally. I know they are still on the Yahoo server. The only way I can avoid this is constantly going to BellSouth and deleting the emails there. This is a nuisance. I have looked in Entourage preferences and I don't see a way to automatically deleted a message from the server once it has been downloaded.

I will go months without having a problem, but I've had this problem ten times in the last week or so. Any help would be appreciated. This thread is locked. We have been using Hawaii Broadband and entourage for several years and have only been having the problem for the last four months.

Please do not tell me to change account settings like not leaving email on server or deleting emails from server after downloading!!!!! I want to be able to have a back up of emails for the last 30 days on the server because of previous traumas with hard drive crashes and failed local backups. I also want to be able to download to another device.

Entourage is supposed to keep track of previous downloads to prevent duplicate downloads to the same device. Somehow this tracking is occasionally getting lost for this account.

I need to find out WHY and fix that. How and Where is the tracking stored? Any ideas on fixing this problem are appreciated! See related articles to this posting. This is usually a result of the server being reset. Entourage uses the ID to know what's been downloaded. I suspect they are resetting their servers for some reason on a regular basis.

You can switch to an IMAP account and that way you'll have the access you want and never have to deal with downloading duplicates again. The delete button and 'Delete' function under the Edit are returning the error message --' the messaging interface has returned an unknown error.

If problem persists, restart Outlook. I've restarted several times including a full system shutdown. Clear your Deleted Items folder and in case you are working with a pst-file also run Compact Now and scanpst.

Then try again. When I replaying an email, the original message goes like this 1 but when I'm replying any email it become the number 2. Is there any setting went wrong? I'm in the need of solving this problem as I'm not the one who is wrinting the original message when I reply to any email.

If Entourage has such a serious error then why doesn't the majority of Entourage users experience the same issue? The fact that it happens every weekend indicates you are either doing a rebuild or your server is doing something to cause Entourage to loose the message ID.

I can't remember the last time I downloaded duplicates. Adam Bailey. Well, search around.. I'd say it's gotta be one of the top problems with Entourage, and since it A happens with no other mail clients B happens on multiple accounts, it's an Entourage issue, not a server issue or, maybe a issue with servers that team Entourage hasn't figured out that everyone else has? This same issue has happenes to my boss. About once a month Entourage floods in about emails from the mail server.

Since I have had Entourage 08 I have not had this problem. So finally got her to upgrade and BOOM 2 days later emails come flooding back. I can not believe that there is no patch for this issues yet. Or the suggestion that I need to change all my email servers I have both a business and personal email to accomodate Entourage's problems with POP. Please, no more examples of Entourage's problem; just get different colored glasses.
